Privacy Policy

Last updated 5 September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Edunet (“Edunet”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data when you use our website, courses, and live classes. Edunet is an online learning platform operated by RAPIDSOLUTIONS PVT LTD, No 326, Kotupathgoda Road, Kumbuka West, Gonapola, Sri Lanka. By using Edunet, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information — your name, email address, and password (stored in hashed form by our authentication provider), your role (student, teacher, or admin), and profile details you add such as a bio or display name.
  • Teacher verification information — if you apply to teach, the qualification documents, subjects, and experience you submit for review. These are stored privately and seen only by you and our administrators.
  • Payment information — payments are processed by our payment provider, PayHere. We receive confirmation of a transaction (amount, status, and an order reference) but we do not collect or store your card or bank card details. Teachers who receive payouts provide bank account details for that purpose.
  • Learning activity — courses and classes you purchase or subscribe to, bookings, attendance, and which materials you access.
  • Live class media — when you join a live class, your audio, video, and chat may be transmitted to other participants and, if the class is recorded, captured in the recording.
  • Technical data — basic session and device information and cookies needed to keep you signed in and to operate the platform.

2. How we use your information

  • To create and manage your account and verify teacher applications.
  • To deliver the services you buy — course access, live class joining, recordings, and study notes.
  • To process payments and pay teachers their earnings.
  • To send you essential communications such as purchase receipts, booking confirmations, and account notices.
  • To provide support, maintain security, and prevent fraud or abuse.
  • To comply with our legal obligations.

3. Service providers we share data with

We use trusted third-party providers to run Edunet. They process data only on our instructions and only as needed to deliver the service:

  • Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage.
  • PayHere — payment processing (Sri Lanka).
  • Cloudflare Stream — hosting and playback of recorded videos.
  • LiveKit — real-time audio/video for live classes.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery.
  • Vercel — website hosting.

We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Edunet, our users, or others.

4. Study notes and content protection

Study notes shared by teachers are provided on a view-only basis. To deter unauthorised copying, the notes viewer may display a watermark containing your name and email address. You agree not to attempt to download, redistribute, or share protected materials.

5. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, then for any additional period required to meet legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution obligations. You may ask us to delete your account, subject to records we are required to keep (for example, payment records).

6. Security

We protect your data using access controls enforced at the database level (row-level security), encrypted connections, and restricted administrative access. No online service can be completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit access to those who need it.

7. Children and students under 18

Edunet supports students preparing for O/L and A/L examinations, some of whom may be under 18. If you are under the age of majority in your country, you may use Edunet only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these terms on your behalf. If you believe a child has provided us personal data without appropriate consent, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

8. Your rights

You may access and update most of your information from your account settings. You may also request a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct it, or request deletion, by contacting us. We will respond in accordance with applicable law.

9. Cookies

We use only the cookies necessary to sign you in and operate core features. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of Edunet after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
